Karyn Trong: Lost in Transition: Integrating English Language Learners

Audience: Middle/High School educators

ESL students face the dual challenge of learning a new culture and language. Providing these students with support and a sense of community is an overlooked, but crucial component of ESL student achievement. This session will provide powerful evidence of this concept and equip educators to allow ESL students to share their culture and enable them to feel the support of their peers and new community as they become linguistically and culturally assimilated. Karyn Trong has taught ESL for five years in South Korea, the Dominican Republic, and Florida. In the Dominican Republic she headed the foundation of an ESL program in a missionary school. In South Korea she was lead teacher of five teachers in an

after school intensive English program. She is currently head of a Florida middle school ESOL center where she has been teaching for 2 years. Ms. Trong earned her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on ESOL.

  1. Hi my friend! I wish to say that this post is awesome, nice written and include almost all significant infos. I would like to see more posts like this.

  2. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb
usability and visual appeal. I must say you have done a awesome job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads very fast for me on Opera.
    Excellent Blog!
